Dear Supporters,

We have received a petition on Change.org by a Mahila Pradhan herself, Vimlesh Kumariji asking to end the regressive and patriarchal practise of Pradhan-pati and give women Pradhan’s their due.
As a part of the Indian National Congress Party’s manifesto consultation process, this idea was placed before and carefully considered by the Manifesto Committee.
Under the leadership of the Shri Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party strongly believes that for women to perform to their fullest potential, they require equal opportunity and a level playing field. We are very keen to create that level playing field through building the capacity of women Pradhans and providing them with a support structure.
As a step towards that, we promise to launch a programme to appoint an Adhikar Maitri in every Panchayat to serve as a paralegal to educate women on and assist them in the enforcement of their legal rights.
