More women’s stories are being heard. Our call for an inquiry continues.

Katja Mia’s forthcoming documentary, Health Hysteria: Are Women Being Gaslit?, airs Monday 19 October at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media PLAY. Drawing on her own experience of endometriosis, Katja investigates why women can spend years seeking answers while feeling unheard or dismissed.

I welcome this coverage and the courage of those sharing their experiences. Behind every story are the consequences of delayed diagnosis and inaccessible care: lost income, damaged relationships, financial pressure and years of pain.

I launched this petition for a National Endometriosis Inquiry in March 2024 because I believe these experiences demand a national response. As someone living with stage 4 endometriosis who is still seeking appropriate specialist care, that need remains deeply personal.

We need an inquiry that listens to patients, examines failures in diagnosis and treatment, and makes recommendations that lead to measurable change. This must include access to multidisciplinary care for complex and extra-pelvic disease, and the barriers faced by people who must travel abroad for treatment.

Media attention can open the conversation. We must keep pressing for accountability and action after the programme ends.

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared and supported this petition. Please share it again, encourage others to sign and ask your public representatives to support a National Endometriosis Inquiry.

Our experiences matter. Our pain deserves treatment. Our voices deserve a response.
