Islington Council - Improve public toilet provision

Islington Council - Improve public toilet provision
The Issue
Good provision of public toilets is a hallmark of a welcoming place. It has a significant impact on quality of life. In Islington provision is not good enough and this impacts residents and visitors every single day.
A lack of toilets is a serious public health concern and it is already disadvantaged groups of residents such as those with health conditions requiring more frequent visits to the toilet that are most affected.
Loos for Islington are a group of residents campaigning for better provision of public toilets in the borough to tackle social isolation and make Islington more inclusive and to undo the Islington 'loo leash'.
If you are an Islington resident please support this petition.
We call on Islington Council to:
- Publish and deliver a public toilet strategy for Islington.
- Meaningfully engage with residents about what is needed to improve public toilet provision in Islington.
- Use the Council's influence to call on the owners and management of shopping centres in Islington (including the 'Nags Head Town Centre' shopping centre) to provide public toilets.
- Undertake and make publicly available a report into the potential for new public toilet facilities in the borough's town centre shopping areas (including Archway).
- Take concrete steps to improve signage to public toilets in the borough and publish a range of communication materials (including offline materials) about the location of public toilets in Islington. These should be accessible to all.
