I've discovered that TfL have placed this junction on their list of the 73 most dangerous junctions in the whole of London. Interestingly, TfL's press release (from April last year) says this junction has "improvements planned within TfL's current business plan". I've chased TfL for an update about where their plans have got to and will post further updates as soon as I've heard further.
