Kıbrıs’ın kuzeyinde özellikle nefret söyleminin takip ve bildirimi ile ilgili cezalar konusunda yetkili veya görevli herhangi bir yasal kurum bulunmamaktadır. 

Nefret söylemi sadece cinsel yönelim veya cinsiyet kimliğine karşı işlenmesi ‘ceza yasası’ kapsamında değerlendirilmekte ve suçun işlenmesi halinde iki yıla kadar hapis cezası verilebilmektedir. 

Fakat azınlık veya diğer gruplara karşı ırkçı, ayrımcı ve nefret içeren söylemler ''Nefret Söylemi'' ‘ceza yasası’ kapsamında bulunmamaktadır.

In the northern part of Cyprus, there is no legal body in charge or responsible to monitor and report hate speech and to impose penalties.

Hate speech against sexual orientation or gender identity is considered within the scope of the ‘penal code’ and can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years.

However, racist, discriminatory, and hateful speech against minorities or other groups is not covered by the “Hate Speech” ‘criminal law’.
