ISPCA NEED TO TAKE ACTION: Seize the Ballymore Eustace Muzzled Collie from Cruel Owners
The Issue
She ran away to find help 》the people that found her gave her back to the owners 》the ISPCA begged the uncooperative finders for information 》the ISPCA let her stay with cruel owners
From the start: What happened to this poor Collie featured on the Ballymore Eustace News page? Here is a factual and true account from a witness "I attended the finders House in Glashina on Monday night where I removed the muzzle, the dog was so parched/dehydrated it had made huge efforts to try and drink through the contraption on its face. The dog was offered food which while eating it was plain to see that re-feeding syndrome was obvious, this occurs after long periods of food and water deprivation. The dog was booked to go to rescue with My lovely horse rescue. Amanda from last chance animals was organising transport as I was in Belfast at transplant clinic with William. The finders husband who had refused to come out to the dog on the Monday night … apparently found the owner/abuser to which he returned the poor dog. This hasn’t been confirmed as both the finder and her husband have refused to cooperate with the Inspector from Irish Society of Prevention, Cruelty to Animals and the Gardai. We are looking to act in the dogs best interest, the Inspector from the ISPCA is seeking to assess the risk the dog is obviously in."
Days later here is the update:
The Gardai FINALLY managed to get the collies owners details from the finders & an inspector from the ISPCA went out to visit the dog. The owners were very cooperative and the dog is in good health and happy. The muzzle was given to the ISPCA inspector never to be used again. Apparently this type of muzzle is commonly used when training working Dogs… disgusting but that’s another crusade… in any case we have been assured that this collie will never wear one again.
If the finders had simply cooperated with the rescues & the ISPCA in the first instance this could have all been put to bed very quickly & not escalated.
** THE PUBLIC ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME OF THIS. ANY PERSON THAT THOUGHT THAT MUZZLE WAS OK TO PUT ON THAT DOG DOES NOT DESERVE TO OWN AN ANIMAL. THIS ANIMAL NEEDS TO BE SEIZED BEFORE THEY ARE EXPOSED TO FURTHER CRUELY.
Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals? DO WHAT YOUR ORGANISATION SAYS IT DOES. PREVENT CRUELTY. SEIZE THIS DOG.
