Ireland’s Sinn Fein party will hold its annual conference, or Ard Fheis, at the end of this month. Among the motions to be debated and voted on will be one calling for a ban on the cruel practice of live hare coursing.

Sinn Fein is a large and rapidly growing political party and the campaign to protect Ireland’s hares from this horrific blood sport would receive a huge boost if the party backs a ban.

Please, if you have time, send a message to the politicians listed below, asking them to support an outright ban on hare coursing in Ireland. You can use the sample message below or compose your own if you wish.

Simply email the message to yourself, with a “blind back-up copy” to each of the three lists below, and all of the politicians will receive your message/appeal. That requires sending the email three times, with a different list “copied” each time.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I understand that the subject of live hare coursing will be considered at your Ard Fheis later this month. This practice is extremely cruel and should have no place in modern Ireland. Anyone who has watched the hares twisting and dodging on a coursing field, or being mauled or tossed about like rag dolls, or who has heard the childlike screams of the animals, knows that this no true sporting activity, but animal cruelty of the most sickening kind.

Please support any motion proposed at your party conference that calls for the abolition of hare coursing.
