To hold judges and others accountable for their decision to hand over children to abusers.
The Issue
All to often judges, lawyers, cps, etc, knowingly hand children over to abusers. When that child ends up with the repercussions of these people's decisions...nothing is done to them. Only children and those, like myself, who have done everything possible to protect them, are left with the lifetime consequences of their actions and decisions.
Did you know that a child has a 90% chance of being abused after the domestic abuser is given parental rights or visitation, and the percentage is even higher when that child looks like the victim/survivor?
It's unacceptable! Have you or someone you know ever been treated by lawyers, judges, etc, like you're the villain when you are the only one trying to protect a child from an abuser? That is what I'm going through right now.
I have all the evidence I was told I needed to protect not only myself but also my son. So, I gathered all my courage and left our abuser....only to find out, not only am I not protected(even with a protection order) but my son is not at all protected!
I'm told aka threatened by lawyers that if I don't let our abuser have contact with him, I will be punished when we go to court. How can anyone ask a victim/survivor of abuse to hand over their child to the abuser???
The lawyer tells me: If I don't do what our abuser wants, the judge could and probably will give him custody or something along those lines, even though I offered supervised visits with someone I trust to supervise, he refused and yet he was never threatened by either lawyers....so to punish me for protecting my son, the courts are going to hand him over to the abuser....my son will be the one who suffers for their decision but they're going to blame me for it all because I was protecting him.
This way of thinking needs to stop! Stop blaming and punishing the victims/survivors and STOP making the children the ones who suffer the consequences!
The blame and consequences belong to the abuser, the judges, and anyone else who had a hand it, period! Hold these people accountable for their decisions and actions!
I believe holding them accountable will help make the much needed change in family and domestic abuse court hearings, as well as protect our children's health and well being.
