While we are told there is “no room in the budget” for healthcare, schools, or housing, the math tells a different story. As of January 2026, billionaire wealth has jumped by 16% in just one year, reaching a record $18.3 trillion globally.
In the U.S., we are watching the world’s first trillionaire-in-the-making while working families struggle with the rising costs of basic survival. The money exists—it is just being hoarded.
Why we need a Wealth Tax NOW:
• The 5% Solution: A simple 5% tax on the net worth of billionaires (like the one proposed in the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act) would raise $100 billion over five years.
• They stay rich, we get results: Even with a 5% tax, these individuals would still see their wealth grow because their investments typically return 7.5% annually. They lose nothing from their lifestyle; we gain everything for our community.
• The Fairness Gap: Right now, the average billionaire pays a true tax rate of 3-4%, while the average nurse or teacher pays 15-25%.
Our Demand:
Stop protecting the "size of the pile" for 200 people and start protecting the lives of 330 million people. We aren't asking for "charity"; we are asking for a return on the public infrastructure (roads, schools, internet) that these billionaires used to build their empires.
Sign and Share. Let’s make 2026 the year we value people over hoarded billions.
