The Issue

This is what Newcastle City Council did.

The only documented person in the world to survive three rare, life threatening Cancers - stage 4. Other complex medical conditions Inc Chronic Kidney Disease, diabetes, nerve damage,  mobility issues and complex PTSD.

In early 2024, in crisis—malnourished, suicidal, at risk of cancer recurrence, and physically unable to cook. The Consultant reports a Safeguarding concern.

The first urgent care request is submitted to Allison McDowell the Director of Adult Social care in February 2024 .  It is ignored.  Four more urgent care requests to Newcastle City Council were sent between February and July 2024.  Included over 40 pages of medical evidence, including letters from a hospital consultant and a crisis mental health team stating high risk of death from self-neglect or suicide.

All ignored. Not refused. Ignored

Under the Care Act 2014, urgent support must be provided immediately or refused with a clear, written explanation.

Newcastle City Council did neither. They ignored.

They did not claim ineligible.

They did not explain why.

They simply said nothing—for five months.  A silence, and that silence nearly killed.

There is now a County Court case progressing.

There is to be a Judicial Review requested

What I’m asking for:?

An independent investigation into Newcastle City Council’s handling of my case

A review of adult social care practices for all service users in the city

Public accountability from those responsible for breaching national legislation

What I want

An apology, and a public commitment to ensure no other disabled person is treated this way

If this can happen to someone with documented crisis evidence, decades of employment and contribution, and full legal knowledge of his rights—how many others have been ignored, manipulated, or harmed behind closed doors?

This isn’t just about me. This is about whether local authorities can break the law and get away with it. About whether disabled lives matter when they become inconvenient.
