The Obermeier family of Braham, MN has been living a nightmare since August 2022. Isanti County Child Protection removed their children due to a broken stove and mental health concerns while the father was at work, unaware of the unfolding situation. False reports from a disgruntled ex and allegations have been used against this family to keep their children in out-of-home foster care. 

Tragically, after 14 months in foster care, it was discovered that the children may have been subjected to abuse in the foster home - an ordeal that was covered up by the very agency meant to protect them. This is not just an attack on one family's rights but also a gross failure of our child protection system.

The National Coalition for Child Protection Reform states that "children are far more likely to be abused in foster care than in their own homes". The children have come to visitations saying they were having their heads slammed on the floor, and that they were sleeping in bed with foster parents. The social workers documented the oldest child sleeping in bed with a 40-year-old man. They have had bruises, black eyes, and severe mental health issues sense being removed from their home Yet despite this alarming information, Isanti County Child Protection continues its unjust actions against the Obermeier's. That includes the deliberate actions to hide the abuse that they are subjected to while in the care of Isanti county.

We demand justice for this family and immediate action from those responsible for overseeing child welfare services. And for the County Attorney to designate investigations into people to be held accountable criminally if needed. We call upon Isanti County authorities and Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead to rectify this grave injustice immediately. To also help Isanti county and everyone else who is agreeing to deal with injustice with our family services and family Court systems. I know this story is not the only story in Isanti county where things are not happening that are fair to our people.

Please sign our petition demanding that these innocent children be returned home where they belong - with their parents who love them dearly. Your signature can help right a wrong and bring about much-needed change within our child protection system. This petition has now grown and is also a petition to support investigations into the departments that are instructed and are meant to protect children, to have an audit done in regards to the spending and federal funding that is being issues for children within the care of the county and for the judges this petition is for the community. 

. Its been over 560 days. The agency has violated my rights my children's rights, I have been participating in individual therapy, marriage therapy, EMDR therapy, DBT therapy, anger management course completed. I have provided 10 negative UAs, I have attended intensive outpatient treatment (even though sober for a long time) using it as more of a relapse prevention with the stress so taking advantage of it. I attend all visitations even though my children do not go. I participate in therapy with the therapists that see my children one on one even though I can't be present with them when they are attending. Pregnancy resource center parenting classes. Completed 2 independent assessments at the refuge for a safety plan. I have attended conferences. Maintained appropriate conversations with the school and the therapists. Attended every court hearing, attend Beblleris when I can. Parental assessment done and completed, psychologist appointments, medications prescribed, skills worker, mediation with Katrallasso group, Advocate for my children constantly. Try to get the doctor appointments set up but im not allowed to present even though its my right. Set up dental appointments and made sure insurance information was updated.  The 1 thing I did not complete was having meaningful relationships with the GAL and the social worker. And having the reflective capacity to understand why kids were removed. The agency has also submitted false document in court records to the extent of changing and altering the actual document and I do not feel. Comfortable with the Information they receive and report being accurate or even the correct document. If  Any more recommendations anyone else could provide that I have not done that may help I am open to!

At this time our rights to all 3 children have been terminated as of March 28th 2024. My youngest son I have with my husband is now living in the home of my ex (father of the older 2) parents. They did not ever support my relationship with my children and my ex is in prison until 2025 for 2nd degree criminal sexual misconduct and will be paroled to this home. I cant describe the feeling to know that my children will be raised and adopted by the very people I tried to protect them from. The people that were falsely reporting me prior to this to try and gain custody of my children so they did not need to pay child support. This is not okay. This is not what the child protection system is suppose to do and this judicial court is not suppose to allow people who have abused kids in the past,, and abused the mother and the family take the children from her by using false reports. My children are still not okay and I will never stop! Please sign this Petion  so my children can come home and so that our community can show the commissioners that investigations into this department need to be done before more children and families are tore apart abused and trying to find help.
