As we know, most boaters are now out of the water and into their winter stowage. Still a few boats out there either fishing or hunting ducks as it is the season for duck hunters.

I have had a few comments when speaking with others on how they feel about the weeds in the bay including duck hunters that feel some areas should be left alone and I figure that as well.

There has to be a happy medium between leaving the weed beds natural as they are and also having the bay usable by marine users of all kinds.

Have heard a lot of complaints on the amount of weeds in Rondeau Bay and how it has overtaken the completely. I have been out on much of the bay this past boating season and I have to stop and clear the weeds around my prop and water intakes as I was getting warnings. This year it was a pleasant boat ride when you are constantly stopping to clear the weeds around your lower end.

I will be sending off a letter in new year to convince our provincial government and departments that something must be done to satisfy all concerned and still concern about our species at risk and keeping areas safe for them.

The invasive species, however, has taken control of Rondeau Bay and has had a drastic effect when it comes to boaters and yacht clubs holding their races.  There has to be ways of satisfying the Species At Risk and also all marine users.

This, if not controlled in some manner could have a drastic effect on the economic concern to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and marinas, stores and owners of Places to stay and eat while in Erieau and around Rondeau Bay. Also, would affect those that sell bait for the sports fisherman.
