Weed Bed update September 30 2026

This picture shows the amount of weeds that have formed up along the shores of Rondeau bay at Erieau. These weeds can have various reasons why they ended up there, however, with boat traffic on the bay is the most main reason and really too much for residents to clean up these aquatic weeds. 

The bay on the north shore of Rondeau Bay along most of the shoreline and out into the bay are at a level of one foot from the surface and those that have reach the surface have made large weed bed mats. Seagulls, ducks, can be seen standing on top of the beds. 

These beds do cause problems with recreational activities on the bay but also provides food for all aquatic life. It also helps protects life from other aquatic fish to hide from amongst the weeds. Though a problem for water activities; it does have its benefits. 

A plan must be adopted by our Provincial Government and stake holders to see a plan through to ensure it suits the aquatic life and marine users on the bay.

Will continue posting updates until a proper time to move it forward to the next level in the next 3 - 4 months.
