Anwar Faisal, the owner of Alpha Management, has become infamous for renting unsafe, unsanitary apartments to Boston students and low-income residents. For over a decade, his tenants have filed dozens of complaints about infestations, broken locks, exposed wiring, leaks, and fire code violations.

In multiple cases, city inspectors found apartments that were condemned, filled with bedbugs, roaches, and even dangerous electrical hazards. Faisal has been taken to housing court more than 60 times and was arraigned twice. Yet he continues to profit from unsafe housing—often taking tenants to court instead of fixing the problems.

This is a public health crisis and a failure of enforcement.

The City of Boston must act. Enough warnings, enough reports, enough broken promises. It’s time to take serious legal action against Anwar Faisal, enforce housing codes with real penalties, and stop slumlords from exploiting Boston’s housing crisis for profit.
