Maltese is the national language of Malta and one of the official languages of the European Union. Spoken by over half a million people, it is a unique Semitic language written in Latin script, with influences from Arabic, Italian, and English.

Despite its cultural and historical importance, Maltese is not yet available on Duolingo, the world’s most popular language-learning app. Adding Maltese would help preserve and promote the language, making it accessible to learners worldwide, from heritage speakers to linguists and language enthusiasts.

We call on Duolingo to include Maltese in their language offerings and give this beautiful and historically rich language the recognition it deserves.
