At school, we learn about the LGBTQ community and gender dysphoria, yet there is a glaring absence of awareness for the Alterhuman community and species dysphoria. As someone deeply involved with this community, I have witnessed firsthand the lack of understanding and recognition we face every day. It's important to me—and to many others—that we are acknowledged and understood, even if just for a single day, to foster empathy and reduce the hate directed at us.

Species dysphoria is a real and significant experience within the Alterhuman community, akin to what many experience with gender dysphoria. Without education and awareness, it remains misunderstood, perpetuating stigma and isolation for those who live it. In my efforts to support the community, I have established a social media platform, Kinspace, as a haven for those who share these experiences. However, broader societal recognition is essential for genuine acceptance.

Our education system has taken important steps to include diverse aspects of human experience, but it must also consider the voices and needs of the Alterhuman community. Introducing species dysphoria awareness into school curricula would be a monumental step toward acceptance and understanding, similar to the progress made for gender dysphoria awareness.

We urge educators, school administrators, and policymakers to include discussions around species dysphoria in their educational programs. This addition doesn't require an overhaul of existing curricula but can be an integral part of promoting an inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students.
