DGS Governors agreed to revisit admissions arrangements in early 2027

Thank you — over 800 supporters! An update on DGS admissions
A huge thank you to the more than 800 parents, carers and supporters who have signed and shared our petition calling for the introduction of sibling and staff priority at Dartford Grammar School.
Your support demonstrates the strength of interest in making the School's admissions arrangements fairer and more inclusive, in line with the approach already adopted by the vast majority of grammar schools across Kent.
Where are we now?
The Governors' Curriculum Committee considered the proposal for sibling and staff priority at its meeting on 5 February 2026.
The Committee reviewed admissions data, modelling, relevant legal advice and examples from other grammar schools, including the potential impact of introducing priority for siblings and children of staff.
No decision has yet been made to introduce sibling or staff priority, and any proposed changes would need to go through the appropriate statutory consultation process. However, the important development is that Governors agreed to revisit admissions arrangements in early 2027, once three years of admissions data are available.

For anyone wishing to understand the discussions in more detail, the relevant document is the Curriculum Committee minutes of 5 February 2026, which record the Committee's consideration of the admissions proposal and wider review.
The minutes are available through the School's official website:
What happens next?
We hope the 2027 review will provide an opportunity for the proposal to receive full, transparent and evidence-based consideration, taking account of the views of parents and carers.
Our objective remains to see the proposed changes put forward for public consultation, so that the wider school community can have its say before any final decision is taken.
In the meantime, please continue to sign, share and support the petition. Every additional signature helps demonstrate the level of community interest in this important issue.
Thank you again for helping us reach this milestone!
