Almost 500,000 UK citizens listed Romanian as their first language, with even more of their relatives speaking it as a second language.  Romanians are one of the primary groups of immigrants in the UK, seeing as there are upwards of 175,000 Romania-born residents of London alone, (a figure which does not include second-generation immigrants or people from the Romanian-speaking country of Moldova). Polish is offered as one of the community languages due to the substantial number of Polish people in the UK, so it seems suitable to provide accessible qualifications for another major Eastern-European nationality within the country. Romanian is a sought after language in the workforce, especially in hospitals and schools; providing this qualification and allowing speakers to exhibit competence opens doors for interpreter careers within the increasingly limited job market. An effort to offer this exam to students would certainly benefit employment rates on the national scale.
