I am deeply passionate about soccer, not just as my favorite sport, but as a powerful community-building tool that brings people together. Like many others in our community, I am earnestly advocating for the introduction of soccer in our middle schools within the Mansfield Independent School District (MISD).

Interest in this popular sport is high among our students. Soccer is already a part of high school sports within our district, and extending it to middle schools would be a natural and beneficial progression. Incorporating soccer into the middle school curriculum will give our youth an early avenue for sports involvement, fostering teamwork, dedication, and healthy habits from a young age. Furthermore, statistics have shown that engagement in sports has a positive impact on academic performance, improving focus, and dedication in students (source: American Psychological Association).

By not including soccer as a middle school sport, we are inadvertently restricting the potential of our students who may wish to pursue soccer further when they reach high school. Having soccer at a middle school level would give them the early experience necessary to excel.
