Introduce a Bus Route to and from Carmelaram Railway Station for Last-Mile Connectivity
The Issue
I am a resident living on the Carmelaram Railway Station road, a rapidly growing commercial and residential hub over the past five years. However, the influx of traffic on this route, particularly during peak hours, has made it almost impossible for us locals to navigate our own neighbourhood. Our road is not an arterial route like Sarjapur Road or Outer Ring Road, but it crucially connects these main thoroughfares.
Currently, this road is most frequently used by commuters going to RMZ Ecoworld Tech Park, Embassy Tech Park, Gear School, and New Horizon School and Engineering College, indicating a significant demand for public transportation. A major consequence of not having a public transport system in place is increased reliance on private vehicles, which amplifies the congestion issue. With the flyover work resuming to cross Carmelaram railway station, the traffic is only going to increase on this road.
Therefore, this petition demands the installation of a new bus stop at Carmelaram Railway Station and the introduction of a bus route or shuttle service on Carmelaram - Kadubeesanahalli Road. Not only will this significantly reduce traffic congestion, but it will also offer a sustainable alternative to private vehicle usage. We believe this action will have immediate benefits, including fluid traffic flow, reduced noise pollution, and contributing to a sustainable, eco-friendly neighbourhood. This mobility analysis has been done by BMTC as well, where they have identified the South and South East Zones between Varthur and Bellandur, which is where this area lies, and can be read here: https://gmis.smartcities.gov.in/portal/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=3f23455bced241daa07924a8e631ee53
