Hosting the Olympics comes with responsibility. It takes years to build respect if you can do it. The Olympic industry gives opportunity to work close with some of the finest people, as well as some of the opportunistic executives who get rich off the sweat and toil of these people, and as dollars increase, greed permeates the Halls of Power. Man makes money... but money doesn't make a man. You cannot have a fair system if you have a bidding system. It allows cities to outbid each other putting each other further into debt. How do you fix that? You make it so there is one permanent site. The best solution to end Olympic waste, eliminate deficiencies in bidding processes, and be cost effective, is to base all Olympic activities, including Olympic headquarters, in a place which has the geography, weather, expertise and transportation necessary to host the Olympics... Greece. Perhaps as a restaurant hosts themes for different occasions, Greece can be host to different world cultural themes submitted from different nations. This way the shoe is on the correct foot. The Greeks can reduce and then recoup the costs of building and maintaining venues through recurring use and tourism. This to me is good for the Greek message of being reliable, being trustworthy, keeping promises, being on time and on budget, and being responsible about the things that matter. There is a lot of national ego from potential hosts that would oppose the idea. However there are numerous examples of the prerogative of heritage being respected. An obvious example, The Vatican, headquarters to millions of Catholics, is permanently located in one place. In Greece's case, Mount Olympus, the highest Greek mountain, the god residence of the twelve ancient Olympians, and throne of Zeus. There are locations at and in the vicinity of Mount Olympus which can be built to host the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics... forever... giving the Greeks a chance to perfect their invention.
