日本語版は、英語版の後に続きます Thom and John are both experienced ALTs (Assistant English Language Teachers) with high­-level Japanese language ability. They lost their jobs in May 2016 after a bidding war between ALT companies Interac and Nova spiralled out of control. In June this year, Thom's and John's applications for employment in Sapporo were rejected by the successful bidder Interac. They were told that all ALT positions had already been filled. This despite Interac's promise that it would "prioritize the 65 ALTs who lost their jobs" (reported in The Japan Times ­ 16 June 2016). It is unacceptable that Thom and John have been left hanging by Interac. The company should recognise the qualities that both men can bring to the practice of Assistant Language Teaching in Sapporo -­ they are experienced teachers, good communicators, and they want to contribute to the city in which they have made their homes.
