A Cancer Treatment Choice Only Some Can Afford is Not Real Choice

Millions of Americans facing cancer are searching for every reasonable opportunity to improve their quality of life and extend precious time with loved ones. Integrative cancer care expands treatment options by combining innovative therapies with established conventional care, empowering patients to pursue a more individualized approach to cancer treatment and recovery.

However, families of cancer patients that choose the integrative option face yet another heartbreaking challenge: the inability to afford physician-supervised integrative cancer care. Treatment decisions are driven by government and insurance barriers rather than patient preference or the medical judgment of their trusted doctors.

No family should be denied physician-supervised care simply because they cannot afford it. Yet many patients never have the opportunity to pursue medically reasonable integrative cancer care because out-of-pocket  costs place it completely out of reach. Others who do pursue it often exhaust retirement savings, borrow against their homes, incur significant debt, or rely on public fundraising just to continue treatment.

We have asked the Trump Administration to take immediate and specific action to ensure affordable access to physician-supervised integrative cancer care, and we ask you to sign this petition in support.
