I am a concerned local citizen with two young siblings who currently attend Central Middle, where a gun was tragically brought in recently. This hits too close to home, and it shatters my peace of mind because our schools should be places of safety and learning, not fear and peril. Every day, I worry about the safety of my siblings and others like them who step onto the school grounds. It's a situation no one should ever have to live through. 

We want the school areas to be a safe spot for every child, and therefore, we demand more safety screenings in Central R3 schools. Such measures can include metal detectors at entrances, addition of school safety officers, and frequent random locker inspections. Schools should also be equipped with adequate training on handling emergent incidences and fostering a climate of respect and vigilance among students.

We strongly believe that implementing more rigorous safety screening measures will help prevent further gun incidents in our schools. Let's protect our children, and give them the peaceful learning environment they deserve. Please sign this petition to promote safer schools.
