The issue

The Graham Perrett MP, Albanese Labor Government, promised on the 13th of April 2022 that the Toohey Forest in Tarragindi would have a wildlife fauna crossing built to help and protect all of the wildlife that live in the Toohey Forest. That promise has not been fulfilled and there is new roadkill on Toohey Road on a daily basis. The past couple of months there has also been multiple Koalas that have been killed.

On top of the installation of the fencing and fauna crossing, the speed limit of Toohey Road while travelling through Toohey Forest needs to be reduced to 50km/h during day time and 40km/h at night. Kookaburras who end up on the road don’t stand a chance to move out of the way of a vehicle, they are classed as slow flying birds.

This petition is to push the Brisbane City Council, local and federal members to keep their promises and protect our wildlife. Please help to save our koalas. The wildlife crossing should have been installed before breeding season, before all the wildlife in the forest became more active.
