I am starting this petition on behalf of numerous concerned families in the Bayview Glen community regarding the dangerous traffic situation around our school. Valleybrook Drive is one of the only two ways for hundreds of families to enter and exit Bayview Glen School. This area experiences heavy traffic every day especially during morning rush hours. 

Due to the volume of traffic and lack of proper traffic signal at each end of Valleybrrok Drive, we are witnessing near-miss accidents on almost daily basis, causing an extremely dangerous environments for both drivers and pedestrians. 

Numerous families from our school community have reached out to City of Toronto via 311 and were informed that the situation was investigated earlier this year by having the traffic monitored for a day and deemed unnecessary for traffic lights. As per 311, this situation would not qualify for another assessment in the next 2 years. This timeframe is simply unacceptable given the severity and frequency of near-miss accidents in this area. the safety of hundreds of students and families just cannot be overlooked for the next 2 years. 

Installing a traffic light at each end of Vallybrook drive would significantly improve the traffic flow and help prevent potential fatal accidents. We are requesting immediate action from the City of Toronto to expedite a solution that can help improve safety for our families in this community.
