In correspondence with DOT, I received the following info: "Thank you for contacting us. We are currently in the information gathering stage of a traffic engineering study. The employee you saw onsite was performing a 12-hour traffic count for all vehicle movements through the intersection. The traffic count information will be used along with other data in our analysis of the intersection. Any recommendations for the intersection will be based on engineering standards in consultation with the Traffic Engineering Branch at our Central Office in Frankfort. We expect to complete the traffic study and have a recommendation within the next few weeks. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance." I'll pass along info as I receive it but the process of studying the intersection for traffic light consideration has began.
