Hi, I’m a resident of Manor Road in New Milton. I used to love living here, it was quiet, peaceful, and felt like a safe place to live. But over the past few years, that’s really changed because of the way people are driving down this road.

I’ve had to deal with the heart-breaking loss of two of my cats, both hit by speeding cars right outside my home. On top of that, I was also involved in a car crash here myself. It’s honestly terrifying how fast some drivers tear down Manor Road, even though it’s supposed to be a 30 mph limit, it’s not unusual to see cars flying by at 60 mph or more.

This road should be a safe space where kids and families can walk and neighbours can feel at ease. But right now, it feels more like a racetrack. The speeding, the constant noise, the near misses. It’s stressful and dangerous, and it’s only a matter of time before something even worse happens.

We’ve already seen a number of accidents and lost way too many pets, all because of careless driving and a lack of proper safety measures. Something needs to change.

That’s why I’m asking the council to put in speed bumps on Manor Road. They’re a simple, proven way to slow traffic down and make our street safer for everyone, kids, pets, walkers, and drivers alike.
