On Sunday night, May 26th, 2024, a tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on 520 near Dunkin Donuts. There were a group of young children all ages attempting to cross the street when two of them (4 & 14)  were struck by a car. The other children had to witness this devastating incident. This heartbreaking event has deeply affected the Cocoa and Diamond District Community and highlights the urgent need for safer pedestrian crossings.

The intersections at 520/Washington near Dunkin Donuts and also 520/Blake near Advanced Auto Parts are high-traffic areas where pedestrians frequently face danger. To prevent further tragedies and protect our community members, we urgently need flashing light crosswalks, barriers or an over path installed at these locations.
