We, the undersigned, are residents of Darnall and supporters calling for urgent safety measures on Staniforth Road in Sheffield.

In recent weeks, our community has witnessed:

• A tragic accident, where a local woman was seriously injured and hospitalised and now dependent on her young children
• Ongoing speeding and dangerous driving, despite a 20mph limit being in place.

Staniforth Road lacks basic safety infrastructure. Drivers ignore the speed limit due to no CCTV, no police presence, and no physical speed deterrents. We are demanding:

Speed cameras are the only real solution to change driver mindsets. Unlike rare police patrols, cameras hold drivers accountable every single time they break the law. They don’t just punish — they educate and deter, forcing drivers to slow down and respect the community.

This isn’t a violation of rights — it’s about fairness, responsibility, and safety. Everyone deserves to cross the road without fear.
