Speed and volume survey completed on the L2212
Thank you to everyone who signed, shared and spoke up. Your support got the L2212 a proper hearing, and it has produced real results.
What the Council says
Galway County Council has confirmed in writing, via Seán Canney, that:
- A speed and volume survey was carried out on the L2212 Dunmore–Milltown Road from 21 September to 1 October 2026.
- It recorded 1,366 vehicles, with an average speed of 55 km/h in the 60 km/h zone.
- The Council will install two additional 60 km/h speed limit signs to reinforce driver awareness.
- The Garda Traffic Corps monitored the location on two occasions, for more than two hours each.
Thank you to the Council’s Roads Section and to Seán Canney’s office for engaging with the concerns raised.
Still to clarify: GCC via Seán Canney
- Survey location. Where exactly was the survey carried out?
- Sign locations. Where will the two new signs be placed along the road?
I’ll post another update once the Council responds.
Thank you again. Please keep signing and sharing.
