Install a zebra crossing next to Yeo Valley primary School in Barnstaple

Install a zebra crossing next to Yeo Valley primary School in Barnstaple
The Issue
Every day, my children have to navigate a perilous journey to reach Yeo Valley Primary School in Barnstaple. The school is situated next to a busy road, frequented by a constant stream of traffic, causing significant concern for the safety of young students and their families who need to cross this treacherous path.
The absence of a zebra crossing in this crucial location creates an unsafe environment, where families, especially children, are at risk every day. High volumes of cars and the unpredictability of drivers add to the peril, with no clear sign or stop system to protect pedestrians. It's a matter of time before a tragedy occurs, and as a parent, the anxiety of seeing children braving this challenge is overwhelming.
Also there is going to be lots more houses build on the other side of the road.
Studies have shown that pedestrian crossings significantly reduce accidents and improve road safety. In towns that have implemented zebra crossings near schools, there is often a marked decrease in incidents involving children and vehicles. Moreover, zebra crossings empower children with the confidence to cross roads safely, promoting their independence while keeping safety paramount.
We need to come together to urge the local council to install a zebra crossing near Yeo Valley Primary School. This is a simple, yet crucial step to protect our community's children. Not only will a zebra crossing safeguard the wellbeing of our kids, but it will also enhance the safety of pedestrians within the area, making the neighbourhood more accessible and secure.
Please join me in advocating for this critical safety measure by signing the petition. With your support, we can create a safer environment for our children and for everyone who resides and works in Barnstaple.
