Install a little free library in Edmond, OK

Install a little free library in Edmond, OK
The Issue
For 3 years, I have been donating plasma at Grifols. Every time I come in, I bring a book with me. Reading has always been a favorite pastime for me. While donating, there is plenty of quiet down time, and I, as well as others, enjoy spending the time in a good book. In this tranquil period, I'm reminded of the power a good book holds in bridging time and bringing joy. The concept of sharing these stories, thoughts, and worlds with others fills me with enthusiasm. I envision a community where books aren't merely personal property but shared treasures for everyone to enjoy.
At Grifols (and the other businesses located in this building) there is an opportunity to strengthen our community's bond over literature. By installing a little free library, we can make a way for people to experience the magic of books without barriers. Imagine a small library box tucked in a corner near the entrance to the building, filled with stories waiting to find a reader. Such a library doesn't merely offer books; it offers a community service, a place of exchange and discovery.
Various studies illustrate how community-based libraries foster a love of reading, enhance literacy rates, and encourage neighbors to interact. According to the Little Free Library organization, their structures promote better community cohesion and mitigate isolation. At a time where technology often draws us apart, a centralized hub of shared literature promotes face-to-face interactions and a shared sense of community.
The plan is straightforward: with the help of supportive local businesses willing to host the little library and contributions of used books from community members, we can create this literary haven. The construction could be undertaken by volunteers, perhaps engaging local craftsmen or even schools' woodshop classes to make this a true community-led initiative.
Together, let’s foster a culture of reading and sharing, enrich our community, and make literature accessible to everyone. By signing this petition, you are advocating for education, unity, and the simple joy of reading. Please lend your support and help bring this vision to life by signing this petition.
