Petition updateHelp a Jamaica Plain, MA Local Keep a Shed THEY HAD A PERMIT TO BUILD
LAST STEP (hopefully)

Maybe some of us never quite get over how difficult it can be, this asking for help business. I know that getting more graceful in the asking and receiving is essential in order to survive this aging I’m in but somehow, given everything that’s going on in the world currently, needing support to rectify something so relatively small in the scope of the world yet huge for me personally, feels a bit over the top. Never-the-less, apparently there is one more (most important although I was not informed of this until recently) step in receiving the Variance to legalize the shed/workshop I built, after the permit I received was declared a ‘mistake’.
There is a meeting this coming Thursday, March 24, 2016 with the Zoning Board of Appeal (ZBA) at Inspectional Services (ISD) 1010 Mass. Ave., Boston at 5 PM. I will be there, once again presenting the story of what happened and hoping for a favorable vote by the Board.
This is a difficult time of day for people to attend, a difficult place to get to, and a challenging place to park if one is driving. As I have no way of knowing if people will come who oppose the granting of this Variance, not how contentious it may become, it has been suggested to me that I get all of the community support possible.
This can be done relatively easily by emailing:
valerie.hogan@boston.gov
matthew.fitzgerald@boston.gov
or calling:
617.635.4775
and stating that you support the granting of this, referring to:
ref.: BOA-555027
The City mailed out notice cards to my abutters but I am aware of several who did not receive them. The people who have called to express their opinion have told me that it was quick and polite.
I’d be so grateful to anyone who is able to call, anyone who is able to email, and anyone who is able to attend.
Thank you. So much.
