As a mother of a child with special needs, I have endured the sorrow of seeing my child struggle due to the ignorance and lack of qualifications of those who are supposed to support and guide him within the school system. Unfortunately, my story is not unique. This is the painful reality for countless other parents with children of special needs and it's time for a change. Children with special needs deserve and have the right to professionals who fully understand their needs, who have the right training to support them, and who perceive their work as a vocation and a privilege, not just a job.



This lack of adequately trained staff not only undermines the education and development of these children, but it also diminishes their quality of life and their potential for independent adulthood. A lack of proper early intervention can easily translate into a lifetime of dependence, diminished opportunities, and misspent tax.

That's why we are requesting a nationwide mandate that requires all adults working within special needs schools to carry validated credentials establishing their ability to support children with special needs. Only when this is in place, can we ensure that every child receives the quality education and support that they deserve.
