Innocent Iowa Farmer, Loving Father—Wrongfully Convicted of Farm Accident Needs Your Voice
The Issue
Todd Mullis needs your voice to help bring him justice and freedom.
Todd Mullis—a hard-working Iowa farmer, devoted husband, and loving father of three—was wrongfully convicted of a "crime" that never existed. From the very beginning, Todd has always maintained his innocence.
On November 10, 2018, Todd's wife Amy was injured on their family farm after falling on an upended farm tool. Todd immediately rushed her to the closest hospital, but tragically, Amy passed away later that day. Instead of investigating, the small-town Sheriff's department jumped to conclusions. Without a single piece of forensic evidence linking Todd to Amy's injuries—and despite a witness confirming that Todd was with him at the critical time—authorities claimed it was “murder” and branded Todd their suspect.
Months later, police arrested Todd, tore his three young children from him, and set an excessive and unattainable $5 million cash bail to keep him behind bars. At trial in 2019, Todd was failed not only by the prosecution but also by his own defense attorney. His trial lawyer ignored Todd’s repeated requests to bring in an accident-reconstruction expert, failed to investigate, and even began his opening statement by telling the jury: “I agree with some of what the State just said” and "the evidence is much along the lines of what you've just heard"—handing away Todd’s defense before it had even begun.
The truth is clear: Amy’s death was a tragic farm accident. There was no crime, no murder. Independent forensic experts have since proven that what the State alleged was scientifically impossible. The prosecution’s case was smoke and mirrors—a false narrative designed to secure a conviction rather than uncover the truth.
Todd Mullis was a faithful husband, a devoted father, and a man betrayed by bad policing, a careless investigation, and prosecutorial misconduct. He is now suffering the ultimate injustice: a wrongful conviction that has stolen his freedom and torn apart his family.
As our nation’s founders warned, “It is better that a hundred guilty persons go free than that one innocent suffer.” Todd is that innocent man. We ask you to stand with us. Please join the fight to free Todd Mullis and restore justice.
