Hi everyone,

Late 2026 / Early 2027: The Victorian Law Reform Commission (VLRC) will release a public Consultation Paper and officially open the window for formal community submissions.

Our Plan: We are planning a comprehensive community submission pushing for a robust 3 to 5 year maximum prison sentence and a mandatory 2 year licence disqualification. We want to ensure the State of Victoria finally catches up to the states like New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. The proposed prison sentence creates a proportionate sentencing bridge beneath the 10 year Dangerous Driving Causing Death penalty.

March 2028: The VLRC will hand its final recommendations to the Victorian Attorney-General to change the law.

What you can do today:                                                                                                                                                                                            Stay tuned to the updates page. As soon as the formal submission window opens, we hope to share a complete, downloadable template right here. Anyone who has signed this Petition will be able to copy, sign, and email it directly to the Commission our collective voice is loud and clear.

Thankyou for standing with us. We are finally getting close to closing the $2,000 fine loophole.
