Initiate Stricter Laws & Penalties for Knife Crime and Promote Youth Education: #ChugsLaw

The Issue

Tragedy should never be a catalyst for change, but the painful reality is, at times it is. Our family recently lost an incredible soul, Jayme ‘Chugs’ Sykes, a 20-year-old boy who was mercilessly killed in a knife attack that abruptly ended his promising life. He was full of spirit and had a radiant smile that is painfully missed. His untimely departure has made us realize the urgent need for a robust legal framework to counter knife crimes. Through this petition, we seek to initiate #ChugsLaw, a movement named after our beloved Jayme, pushing for immediate sentencing reforms and lengthier prison terms for knife crime perpetrators.

One family, two countries, making a change one signature at a time, petitioning our governments in UK 🇬🇧 & Australia 🇦🇺 to implement #ChugsLaw - carry respect NOT a knife, stop the knife, instance sentencing for those caught carrying a knife & more robust laws & penalties for those soulless cowards who pull a knife on a life!

Our campaign is not only focused on punitive measures but aims to foster a safer environment for our children and families. Knife crime is currently experiencing an unprecedented upsurge; hence, there is an urgent need for effective knife prevention laws accompanied by comprehensive education in schools. Education which highlights the fatal consequences of knife crime will reinforce the message of 'Carry Respect, Not a Knife.'

As Chugs’ loved ones, we refuse to let his story end in vain. Instead, we opt to memorialize him through a meaningful legacy that will initiate much needed change. No other family should ever endure the pain of a 4am call delivering heart-wrenching news. We need your support to bring this much-needed reform actuality and ensure Chugs' tragic end fuels societal growth and protection. Please, sign this petition and help us realize a future where mutual respect overshadows violence.
