Initiate Oversight for UK Schools Neglecting Bullying Issues and Abusing Referral System

For my five-year-old son, school became a living nightmare. The hallowed halls that should have been a haven for learning turned into a battlefield where my child was bullied and physically hurt. I persistently reported these heinous acts to the school, presenting proof of recurring head injuries, but to no avail. I was stonewalled until I escalated the issue to the police, notifying my Member of Parliament because the school failed to properly manage the complaints procedure. In what I believe was an attempt to discredit my concerns, the school retaliated with a malicious referral to social services.
This personal experience is unfortunately not singular. Numerous parents across the UK have voiced similar grievances, where they believe schools are resorting to making malicious referrals to silence parental concern and undermine the complaint process. What further exacerbates the situation is the lack of a concrete system that identifies and addresses schools failing to endeavour towards eradicating bullying. In fact, according to Ditch the Label's Annual Bullying Survey 2019, in the UK, one in five children have admitted to being a victim of bullying, and 27% felt ignored when they reported it.
We are calling upon the Department for Education and Ofsted to enforce stronger oversight procedures, ensuring schools adhere to appropriate protocols when dealing with bullying complaints, protecting children from harm and preventing misuse of the referral system to suppress parent's justified concerns.
Please help rectify this situation by standing with us in our fight to protect our children. Your signature will be a step towards ensuring their safety and respect for their families. Sign the petition today.
