Alongside millions of Americans and foreigners alike, the actions, or lack thereof, of former U.S. President Donald Trump continue to raise alarms, vividly marking the world in ways we are yet to fully comprehend.

There's a conspicuous absence of empathy in his leadership style, resorting to inflammatory rhetoric that too often leads to divisiveness and heightened tension. His handling of key global issues and crises has shown a disregard for the typical strides towards diplomacy and understanding. Coupled with attempts to undermine the confidence and integrity of democratic institutions such as the 2020 Presidential election, it underlines the urgency for accountability measures.

Impeachment isn't a conclusion reached rashly. It is a necessary, constitutionally sanctioned method of addressing the disregard for the oath of office and safeguarding the ideals that America is built upon. It is the duty of the government, guided by the voice of its citizens, to condemn actions and behaviours that threaten the democratic fabric of our society.
