Initiate a Global Earth Summit on Responsible AI Regulation

The Issue

We as a global society stand on the cusp of a Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution. While AI holds great promise, it also has the potential to replace many jobs traditionally done by humans. From software engineers supplanted by high-quality algorithms to drivers displaced by automated cars, the impact of unchecked AI development could have significant economic and societal implications.

To protect our global workforce and economy, we call for the initiation of a Global Earth Summit on AI. This summit will bring together world leaders to develop a consensus on responsible AI regulation and its just use in society. Based on data from a study by Oxford Economics, up to 20 million manufacturing jobs around the world could be replaced by robots by 2030. This and several other studies make it clear that we need to have a global approach towards AI governance, to ensure it doesn't exacerbate economic disparity and unemployment.

As engaged global citizens, we urge our leaders to take proactive steps to guide AI development responsibly, ensuring it contributes to society without causing undue human or economic harm.
