As a concerned citizen deeply affected by the influx of harm and negative influences on social media platforms, I raise this petition. The matter is personal to me as I believe in safety and security of individuals in the digital arena. Recalling the US National ban on TikTok for security issues, we must extend our vigilance to other platforms as well. One such platform is Discord - a communication platform widely used for gaming and community building. There has been a notable occurrence of suicide cases and pedophilia on Discord, warranting our immediate attention.

With over 250 million users worldwide, Discord has an unfortunately growing number of child grooming cases and other cases related to pedophilia. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has reported that police in England and Wales have recorded over 1,300 instances of 'sexual communication with a child' in 2018 using Discord. Furthermore, the role of Discord in amplifying feelings of isolation in individuals wrestling with suicidal thoughts has been highlighted in numerous reports, with fatal outcomes in some cases.

In light of these alarming facts, it's crucial that we urge the competent authorities to clamp down on platforms like Discord to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our younger generations as well as adults. A ban is necessary until Discord takes clear, effective and accountable measures to combat the misuse of their platform. Join me in having our voices heard.
