The NC statutes regarding charter schools need to be changed! Closed sessions are where our Board Members changed TJCA.
1) Parents should VOTE for Board Members after they are presented to the stakeholders. (Not done by a committee in secret to secure a “good ole boy” mentality)
2) Parents should be able to REMOVE Board Members by a 2/3 majority.
3) Term limits (2) should apply to all Board Members and should be applied retroactively to current Boards. If the majority of the Board has exceeded term limits, then 2 newest members and one additional member may stagger rotation off in 1 year.
CALL(preferred) or EMAIL your state representatives and senator, and Director of the NC Charter School Advisory Board (Dave Machado) and tell them this legislation needs to be introduced quickly.
