Friends, Linked to this update is a YouTube video taken from tonight's Indiana Gubernatorial Debate. We have succeeded in getting the candidates asked to commit to pardoning Keith Cooper. Two of the three candidates, John Gregg and the Libertarian Rex Bell, have committed to pardoning Keith immediately. Eric Holcomb commits to pardoning Cooper once he is able to confirm the details of Keith's case. To me, Holcomb is still a bit more cautious than necessary, but I am willing to call this a pledge from him, and I thank him for it. Therefore, I think we can discontinue contacting Eric Holcomb and the Indiana GOP about a pardon for Keith Cooper. I am relieved to know that at worst, the next governor of Indiana, whoever he is, will pardon Keith Cooper. I should observe here that though I have been the administrator and producer of content for this site, I have been collaborating with others who have also been interested in seeing Keith Cooper pardoned. When they are ready for me to, I will give them credit for this collaboration. Right now, Keith Cooper's petition for a retrial is still awaiting a response from the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office. I am not sure that we are finished with the purposes for this online petition site because I don't know what kind of opposition may come from Curtis Hill's office. So I am not declaring a complete victory yet. Right now, Keith Cooper still has the conviction on his record, and I don't want to end this prematurely. But if you've become invested in the outcome of this effort, I think we've had a huge accomplishment today. Let me credit everyone who has submitted a question to the Indiana Debate Commission. Apparently, we were heard. (I would love to know just how many messages did they get.) I think our other efforts have also been important because it has all generated the publicity this case has needed. Celebrate tonight. And if by any chance, someone from Mike Pence's campaign or office is seeing this, I have one message for you: Pardon Keith Cooper. Cheers, Jack Heller
