Friends,
I don't have a new strategy today. Rather, this update is based on something I had heard about but had never taken the time to confirm before now. Governor Pence has been known to claim Martin Luther King Jr. as one of his personal heroes. On MLK Day on January 19, 2015, Pence appeared at a high school in Anderson, IN, and this is what happened:
__________
"Dr. King was one of the heroes of my youth and his words and example inspire me still. We honor Dr. King in a number of ways. First we honor him as a civil rights leader whose courage, whose eloquence, whose leadership inspired a movement and transformed a nation,” said Governor Mike Pence.
Pence joined in the city's 35th annual MLK celebration, to pay tribute to the civil rights icon that shaped the United States.
"We honor Dr. King on this national holiday all across the state of Indiana and all across America because quite simply he was a great American leader. He was a man who took the words of our founders to heart and he forged a more perfect union,” he said.
__________
Keith Cooper was waiting to hear about a pardon even then.

Thank you for your help. Contact anyone you want to about this effort, but please continue to reach out to the New York Times, as explained in the previous post.
