Friends,
Yesterday, for the first time, “Keith Cooper” trended on Facebook. And though his case is not trending right now (as I am writing this), many people are continuing to post supporting comments and links and are tweeting as well. Most of this has been in response to articles from BuzzFeed and Raw Story. Thank you to everyone concerned about Keith’s case.
The vice presidential debate will occur on Tuesday night, and here’s our petition asking to have Mike Pence questioned about a pardon for Cooper: https://www.change.org/p/elaine-quijano-ask-pence-about-a-pardon-for-keith-cooper. If you sign the petition, please also tweet it to the debate moderator @Elaine_Quijano and to @timkaine.
On Monday night, Indiana will have the second of three debates for the gubernatorial candidates. I wish I had been alert to these debates sooner. Democrat John Gregg has already pledged to pardon Keith Cooper if he is elected. We haven’t heard anything from his Republican opponent Eric Holcomb. So we need to have the question asked at a gubernatorial debate. Fortunately, for Indiana residents, there is an easy way to submit a debate question about a pardon for Keith Cooper. Go to this link and submit your question: http://indianadebatecommission.com/submit-your-debate-question/. If you are not an Indiana resident, please sends tweets to Eric Holcomb @HolcombForIN, calling on him to pledge to pardon Keith Cooper.
I have not found a published phone number for contacting the Holcomb campaign, so beginning on Monday, I would recommend calling the Indiana GOP, asking the party to support a pardon for Keith Cooper. We can ask for a pledge to pardon Cooper from Holcomb and call upon the Attorney General candidate Curtis Hill to support a pardon. The phone number for the GOP is 317-635-7561
Thank you for your help!
Jack Heller
