Make the Jungle Trail Safe - Update #6

Just a quick update to let you know that the drive to Make the Jungle Trail Safe! took a break over the summer, but is alive and well. We had planned on presenting the petition to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) this October, but in order to ensure attendance from the many supporters who are still out-of-town, we have decided to postpone to the next meeting of the MPO on December 13 at 10 am. Over the summer the county posted new speed limit, curve and information (Jungle Trail - A Quiet Place to Drive/Bike/Walk) signs on the JT. I take this as proof that the county knows there are issues with the JT and thinks that erecting signs will fix the problems - NOT! Irma was not kind to the JT with significant flooding and downed trees still making it impassable. The linked article in TC Palm talks about the closure of the north section of the JT. What the article doesn't mention is that the closure was the result of complaints from residents bordering the JT who were treated to frequent late-night mudding drives requiring cars and trucks to be towed. Finally, please continue to pass the word about this initiative.
