Highway 30 (Route 30), Joliet Road, Coolspring Drive, 375 West (Shellbourne), Garnet Drive

TURN LANES ON ROUTE 30

This intersection is increasingly busy and beyond dangerous! There are motor vehicle accidents there every month. I looked into finding a report of how many accidents occurred there in the last 5 years, but the data is incorrect. The data does not tally the whole area in question.

I live on that corner and I am also an RN. I am out tending to accident victims way too often!  Recently, a medical helicopter had to land on Highway 30 in front of my house to airlift a teenager who was t-boned. A husband and wife were t-boned and lost their lives a couple years ago. I did CPR on a 19 year old kid who was also t-boned. The one area of Highway 30 and 375 (Shellbourne), has a low lying area that retains water. A young man hydroplaned there this year, and he went head-on into a semi truck, he passed away on the side of the road.

The traffic from each direction is traveling downhill. The semi trucks gain a lot of speed, which increases the danger. The area has increased in population and traffic, even though the State of Indiana Department of Transportation denies this.  Crossing over Highway 30 to Joliet Road to access the town of Valparaiso has become very busy and very dangerous in the recent years. Mostly due to the obstructed view of the highway and the speed of oncoming traffic.  

Please help me move this forward. I don't want any more people injured or killed unnecessarily!
