Increase Tinnitus Awareness and Support

The Issue

My name is a voice among many, a voice that has been silenced by the constant ringing of Tinnitus. In May 2022, at the age of 31, I developed this condition with no known cause. The sounds are relentless - 24/7, 365 days a year. I have sought help from numerous doctors and specialists, tried countless remedies and medications but to no avail.

Tinnitus affects approximately one in five people globally according to the American Tinnitus Association (ATA). In Canada alone, it is estimated that over six million people suffer from this condition (Canadian Hearing Society). Despite these staggering numbers, there's still insufficient awareness or support for those affected.

We need more research funding for understanding and treating tinnitus. We need better education for healthcare professionals so they can provide effective care for tinnitus patients. We need increased public awareness about this debilitating condition so that those suffering do not feel isolated or misunderstood.

This petition seeks to urge the Canadian government to prioritize tinnitus as a serious health issue deserving attention and resources. By signing this petition you are standing with millions who struggle daily with tinnitus in Canada.
