A full copy of the petition and the following was sent to the new BC Government Members this AM now that training and holidays have passed and they have settled into their jobs. This was initially shared with MOTI nearly 2 years ago, but there is not  a record (according to CTV inquiries).

This was sent to MLA Jeremy Valeriote, Minister Farnworth, Deputy Minister Wood and the Operations Managers for the Corridor and Lower Mainland.

I am writing to bring your attention to a critical public safety initiative that has garnered widespread support within our community: the Sea to Sky Highway Safety Petition, which you can view at change.org/seatoskysafety.

This petition reflects the deep concerns of residents, commuters, and stakeholders who rely on the Sea to Sky Highway for daily travel. It calls for immediate action to address longstanding safety challenges along this vital corridor, including dangerous driving behaviors, insufficient enforcement, and infrastructure shortcomings that have led to preventable accidents, injuries, and tragic losses.

As a key transportation artery that supports local, regional, and international connectivity, the Sea to Sky Highway deserves enhanced safety measures to protect its users and sustain the economic and social fabric of our communities. The proposed improvements aim to reduce risks and ensure a safer, more efficient journey for everyone who depends on this route.

We respectfully urge you to review the petition and consider engaging with the public to collaboratively explore solutions that align with the needs of all stakeholders. These include, but are not limited to:

Increased enforcement of traffic laws, particularly in high-risk areas.
Engineering improvements to address known safety hazards.
Education campaigns to promote responsible driving behaviors.
The Sea to Sky Highway is not only a vital transportation link but also a lifeline for residents and visitors. By prioritizing safety, we can save lives, enhance mobility, and strengthen the confidence of all who travel this route.

We look forward to your acknowledgment of this petition and to hearing how the Ministry plans to address these concerns. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require further details or if there is an opportunity to collaborate on advancing these much-needed improvements.
